山水眷岭南 乡音留古韵

——听见广东

五岭逶迤，北有骑田岭、大庾岭，东有莲花山、罗浮山、九连山，西有云开大山、云雾山，山高路远，将这片土地与中原阻隔。温柔起伏的山间，西江、北江、东江自不同方向流出，汇入富庶的三角洲，流向浩瀚的海洋。海浪汹涌，令人望而却步。广东这片土地，千余年来，是与世隔绝的化外之地，是获罪臣子的流放之地，中原文人谓之“岭海之间，去京师万里哉”，“瘴江南去入云烟，望尽黄茆是海边”。

然而，五岭阻隔不了人们南下的脚步。秦始皇南征，将两广纳入帝国版图；秦将军赵佗自立为王，建立南越国，汉人与当地百越通婚融合，开启了番禺（今广州）的精彩历史；汉武帝尽收南越故地，华夏文明深入岭南。而中原王朝的分合战乱，令大批汉人为躲避乱世不断南迁，最终形成了今天广东的三大民系——广府人、潮汕人、客家人。海洋也阻隔不了人们开拓进取的脚步，不论远航“海上丝绸之路”抑或“下南洋”，都带着些冒险的冲劲，承载着人们的生活新希望。世事变幻，近百余年来，亦由于海洋，广府最先为近代文明所感染，成为改变中国历史进程的领头羊。

多元的文化渊源，滋养出广东多元的音乐艺术魅力。千百年来，广东既与世隔绝，又兼容并包；既坚守传统，又开拓创新；既悠然自得，又敢为天下先。被这片土地滋养成长的音乐亦然。

Local Music Still Remains Ancient Charm

------ Hearing Guangdong

In the north, there are Qitian mountain and Dayu mountain. In the East, there are Lianhua Mountain, Luofu Mountain and Jiulian Mountain. In the west, there are Yunkai Mountain and Yunwu Mountain. The mountain is high and the road is long, which block this land from the Central Plains. In the gentle undulating mountains, Xijiang River, Beijiang River and Dongjiang River flow out from different directions into the rich delta and into the vast ocean. The waves are rough and daunting. For more than a thousand years, Guangdong has been isolated from the rest of the world. It was also a place for exiled ministers. Scholars in the Central Plains said "It takes thousands of miles to go to the capital between the mountains and the sea” and "To the south of the Zhangjiang River, is to the clouds; looking at Huangmao, is looking at the seaside".

However, the five mountains couldn’t stop people from going south. Qin Shihuang's expedition to the South brought Guangdong and Guangxi into the imperial territory; Qin General Tuo Zhao established Nanyue Kingdom by himself, and Han people married and integrated with local Baiyue people, which opened the wonderful history of Panyu (today's Guangzhou); Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty collected the ancient place of Nanyue, and Chinese civilization therefore went deep into the southside of the mountains. In order to avoid the chaos at that time, a large number of Han people moved southward, and finally formed the three major ethnic groups in Guangdong today: Guangfu people, Chaoshan people and Hakka people. The ocean also couldn’t block people's pioneering and enterprising steps. Whether they were sailing on the "maritime Silk Road" or "going to the South Ocean", they were carrying the new hope of people's life with some adventurous momentum. In the past hundred years, Guangfu was first infected by modern civilization because of the ocean, and became the leader in the process of changing Chinese history.

The multiple cultural origins nourish the multiple artistic charms of Guangdong music. For thousands of years, Guangdong has been isolated from the rest of the world but it was also inclusive; it has both adhered to its traditions and made innovations; it has been carefree and daring to be the first in the world. The same is true of the music nurtured by this land.

品味传承不息的乡音 他乡亦故乡

人们在茶楼里翻动报纸，和着节奏双指叩桌，华美流畅的广府音乐旋律映照出岭南都市里普通市民的生活和情感，传达出人间世俗的喜怒哀乐。当珠三角逐渐为商业氛围和近代文化浸染，粤北山区、粤东海边却别有一番风情，住在山中的客家人和与潮水共生的潮汕人，其音乐中时时流溢出浓烈的中原古韵。源于唐代中原鼓吹乐的潮汕锣鼓、源于南宋宫廷的潮阳笛套音乐、具有浓烈儒家文人气息的潮州丝弦乐，源于中原的客家汉乐，则保留着古老的丝弦音乐、中军班、八音、民间大锣鼓和庙堂音乐五大类，至今依旧传承不息。

听见广东，能听见岭南生活的闲适，广府人尽情享受着生活的愉悦和情趣，花间蝶、如梦似幻，汉宫秋月、轻歌宴饮，柳浪闻莺、趣意盎然，雨打芭蕉、逍遥惬意；亦能听见岭南的激动昂扬之气，驰骋走马尽显英雄气，威严醒狮不畏强敌，惊涛拍岸乘风前行。听见广东，能听见人们对中原故土深沉的思念，大浪淘沙家乡如画，怀古追昔忆盛世，悲情崖山哀无尽，何时梦回小扬州；能听见记忆里的佳人才子、文人风骨，“凤兮凤兮归故乡，遨游四海求其凰”，“落叶聚还散，寒鸦栖复惊”；亦能听见山里的生活，海里的生活，春来客家山里喜洋洋、潮汕大锣鼓奏来抛网捕鱼……所谓他乡，时间久了，这里便也成了故乡。

听广东音乐，如朵朵繁花，千姿百态，开满心头；又如明月照山海，天涯此时，共饮清晖。

People turn newspapers in teahouses and knock tables with their fingers in rhythm. The beautiful and fluent Cantonese music melody reflects the life and emotion of ordinary citizens in Lingnan city and conveys the secular joys and sorrows of the world. Chaoshan gongs and drums originated from the drum music of the Tang Dynasty, Chaoyang flute set music originated from the court of the Southern Song Dynasty, Chaozhou string music with strong flavor of Confucian scholars, and Hakka Han music originated from the Central Plains, which has retained the five categories of ancient music-- Zhongjunban, Eight Tones, Folk Gongs and Drums, and Temple Music. These kinds of music are still inherited nowadays.

Hearing Guangdong, you can hear the leisure of Lingnan life. The people in Guangfu enjoy the pleasure and taste of life. The butterflies in the flowers are dreamy, the autumn moon in the Han Palace, the relaxing songs at the banquet, the willow waves and the voice of the warblers, the rain hitting the plantains-- all of these leisure moments are pleasant; You can also hear Lingnan's excited and energetic spirit, galloping and showing the heroic temperament, like the lion's dignity, which has no fear towards the strong enemy, and rides forward on the wind. Hearing Guangdong, you can hear people's deep yearning for the native land of the Central Plains. Their hometown is picturesque, which is reminiscent of the past and the prosperous times. The endless sadness on the cliffs and mountains is like the dream back to small Yangzhou; You can also hear the memory of the beauty, talent and literati style-- "Phoenix, Phoenix, return home, travel around the world to seek its loved one", "Fallen leaves gather and scatter, jackdaws perch and startle again". You can also hear the lives in the mountains, the lives in the sea, the joy in the Hakka mountains in spring, and the big gongs and drums playing in Chaoshan to cast nets for fishing... The so-called foreign land has become the hometown after a long time.
