Shen Wenyu began his musical studies at the age of 5 and quickly exhibited all the traits of being a true piano prodigy. At the age of 7, he was accepted to the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and at 9, gave his first public recital at the Sichuan Conservatory. Shen toured South Africa to tremendous acclaim and a year later, he travelled to Germany, to study with Gunther Hauer, while astonishing audiences with his performance of Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto. In June 2005, Shen became the youngest prize winner in the history of the Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition. In 2008 Shen began studies with Liu Shikun and the legendary piano pedagogue, Guangren Zhou winning First Prize at the CCTV Piano & Violin Competition in Beijing, China. At the age of 22, Wenyu Shen has a wide ranging repertoire from Scarlatti to Messiaen and has performed with more than 30 orchestras around the world.
